Quantitative Estimation of Saline-Soil Amelioration Using Remote-Sensing Indices in Arid Land for Better Management

چکیده

Soil salinity and sodicity are significant issues worldwide. In particular, they represent the most dominant types of degraded lands, especially in arid semi-arid regions with minimal rainfall. Furthermore, these areas, human activities mainly contribute to increasing degree soil salinity, dry areas. This study developed a model for mapping using remote sensing geographic information systems (GIS). It also provided management techniques (leaching gypsum requirements) ameliorate improve crop productivity. The results showed high correlation between electrical conductivity (ECe) remote-sensing spectral indices SIA, SI3, VSSI, SI9 (R2 = 0.90, 0.89, 0.87, 0.83), respectively. contrast, it low ECe SI5 0.21). salt-affected soils area cover about 56% cultivated land, which spatial distribution different levels ranged from 44% salinized moderate 27% 29% extreme 1% land. leaching water requirement (LR) depths 0.1 0.30 m ha?1, while (GR) 9 ton ha?1.

Soil Moisture Estimation in Rangelands Using Remote Sensing (Case Study: Malayer, West of Iran)

Soil moisture is generally regarded as the limiting factors in rangeland production. Although many studies have been conducted to estimate soil moisture in semiarid areas, there is little information on mountainous rangelands in west of Iran. The present study aims to investigate the soil moisture estimation in rangelands as compared to the other land uses over a mountainous area in central Zag...

Soil Moisture Estimation Using Remote Sensing

Knowledge of soil moisture content in the root zone is important throughout a wide range of environmental applications, yet adequate monitoring or modelling of this parameter, particularly at larger spatial scales, is difficult due to its high spatial and temporal variability. To overcome the land surface model limits on soil moisture estimation accuracy, point measurement spatial coverage limi...

Estimation of soil moisture using optical, thermal and radar Remote Sensing )Case Study: South of Tehran(

Traditional methods of field measurement of soil moisture in addition to the difficulty, the need for manpower and money and fail to take place on a large scale to be able to show moisture. Therefore, remote sensing has become a widespread use .Landsat 8 satellite data and Sentinel-1 radar satellite from Tehran were provided. 72 soil samples were taken at the same time by satellite passing from...

Development of topsoil grain size index for monitoring desertification in arid land using remote sensing

The grain size composition of topsoil characterizes the soil texture and other physical properties. The coarsening of topsoil grain size is a visible symbol of land degradation; thereby the change in topsoil grain size can be potentially used to monitor desertification using remote sensing. This study proposes a new index for detecting topsoil grain size composition through ground in situ soil ...

Downscaling Land Surface Temperature in an Arid Area by Using Multiple Remote Sensing Indices with Random Forest Regression

Many downscaling algorithms have been proposed to address the issue of coarse-resolution land surface temperature (LST) derived from available satellite-borne sensors. However, few studies have focused on improving LST downscaling in arid regions (especially in deserts) because of inaccurate remote sensing LST products. In this study, LST was downscaled by a random forest model between LST and ...
